Variety Child Learning Center has been moving and grooving with the new STAR Curriculum this year. Across our locations, we are training education coordinators, teachers, and teacher assistants on how to effectively deliver the program to our students. Implementing STAR requires a great deal of learning, strong leadership, and consistent practice to master the key elements that lead to meaningful outcomes for children – and so far the program is off to a successful start at VCLC.

“It’s wonderful to see our leadership team taking an active role in training staff and embracing the STAR Curriculum,” says Corey Lein, Director of Programs “Most importantly, the children have been taking ownership of their learning — whether it’s enthusiastically matching and identifying common objects or generalizing explicitly taught skills across the entire school environment — all while utilizing individualized reinforcement systems to support their success.”

One of the strengths of the STAR Curriculum is the way it allows educators to highly individualize and differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students in our classrooms. Through thoughtful implementation of STAR strategies, teachers can adjust how instruction is presented so that each child can access learning in a meaningful way. By using evidence-based strategies, individualized supports, and ongoing data collection, our teams are able to help students build understanding of important concepts while fostering engagement and joy in learning.

As the program continues to grow you will see even more STAR implementation and techniques across all VCLC campuses. We are looking forward to introducing the curriculum to all staff and students and appreciate your support and enthusiasm.
