Teacher Aide (Multiple Openings)

We are currently looking for qualified Teacher Aides across our multiple campus locations.

Essential Functions:

The New York State Education Department (SED) defines a Teacher Aide as an individual who assists teachers with non-teaching duties, including:

  • Managing records, materials, and equipment.
  • Attending to the physical needs of students.
  • Supervising students.

Work Schedule:

  • Full-Time Hours: Typically 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM or 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM (½ hour unpaid lunch), Monday – Friday.
  • Part-Time Hours: Typically 10:30 AM – 2:30 PM (may vary).
  • Our school operates year-round (12 months).
  • All employees must adhere to policies regarding personal time off and the school calendar.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Hourly Rate: $17 – $20 per hour.
  • Paid Time Off: Accumulate one hour of PTO for every thirty hours worked, up to a maximum of 56 hours per school year (July 1 – June 30) in accordance with New York State Sick Leave Policy.

Special Education Teacher - Floating Substitute

Location: Syosset/Levittown area locations

Position Overview:

We are currently accepting applications for a Special Education Teacher – Floating Substitute to support various types of classrooms, including UPK, Pre-K, and School Age (K-2). These classrooms may include general education, integrated, self-contained, and ABA classrooms.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • NYS Professional Certification in Special Education/Students with Disabilities (Birth – 2nd Grade) or equivalent.
  • NYS Professional Certification in Early Childhood Education (Birth – 2nd Grade) or equivalent.
  • Candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Special Education will also be considered.
  • ABA teaching experience is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

Building Maintenance Supervisor

The Building and Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all aspects of building maintenance and repair. You will play a crucial role in ensuring a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment for our students, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise maintenance staff, assign tasks, provide guidance, and monitor performance.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the school building(s), grounds and facilities to identify maintenance needs and safety issues.
  • Implement a preventative maintenance program to ensure the longevity and functionality of all school facilities and equipment.
  • Coordinate and oversee maintenance and repair projects, such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and general building maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs, and equipment inventory.
  • Manage and prioritize maintenance requests from various departments and ensure timely resolution.
  • Collaborate with external contractors, vendors, district personnel and suppliers to schedule services, and ensure quality workmanship.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, codes, and standard operating procedures.

Requirements:

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively delegate tasks and provide clear instruction.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities. Able to resolve challenges effectively and efficiently.

Physical Demands: This role is a physically demanding role. The employee is required to be non-sedentary. Must be able to stand, run, walk, bend, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch; and lift an average of 75lbs. Must have physical stamina and the ability to perform manual tasks.

Hours: This is a full-time, benefit eligible position:  Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week with ½ hour (unpaid) for lunch. The Facilities Director will define hours. The school operates 12 months out of the year. This position is a vacation eligible position. All employees must adhere to the rules, regarding Personal Time off. This position requires flexibility in scheduling and additional hours as needed.

Travel: At times, travel to an alternate local location will be required.

Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven experience in building maintenance, repair, and supervision, preferably in an educational setting.

School Nurse

We are currently accepting applications for a School Nurse (RN) at our East Northport location. The School Nurse is responsible for direct treatment for a student’s health issues and/or injury and dispenses medication according to a student’s prescription.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing each student's health form prior to the 1st day of school. Contacting student’s pediatrician (with parental consent) about student’s health if additional information or clarification is needed.
  • Reviewing doctor's orders for each student's prescribed medication(s) and dispensing medication according to a student's prescription. Keeping a written log of medications including name, dosage and expiration date; administration of said medications, including any reactions to the medication; and any medication errors.
  • Writing individual health care plans for students with medical alerts including allergies, seizures and diabetes as well as training classroom team on protocol for individual health care plans
  • Direct treatment regarding a student's health issues and/or injury and maintaining the required reports, logs, etc. Notifying staff including the Principal, Director of Family Services, Teacher, Social Worker, Parent, CEO and/or CFO depending upon the nature of the injury.

Education and Experience:

  • Must be a Registered Nurse and Licensed in NYS
  • Effective communication skills
  • Prefer a minimum of one years’ experience working in a school setting with young children with disabilities and their families
  • CPR, AED First Aid and Epi Pen Certified

Work Environment: This job operates in a school environment. Activities usually take place in the nurse’s office or a classroom, in the gym, outside on the playground or in special activity rooms. This role routinely uses standard medical and office equipment.

  • Demonstrates an understanding of the CPSE and CSE systems to help students and families adjust to the educational expectations as students transition from one system to the next, if applicable.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops daily lesson plans in an approved format as required by the Principal.
  • Reviews each student’s IEP prior to the first day of school and periodically to make sure that it is implemented correctly.   
  • Provides research-based instruction to address the instructional goals and objectives contained within each student’s IEP.

A Special Education Teacher is responsible to develop and provide specialized instruction to meet the needs of each child in the class according to his/her/their IEP in all areas of development while implementing curriculum that is compatible with the New York State Next Generation Learning Standards and the New York State Early Learning Guidelines.  In addition, the teacher is responsible for ongoing evaluation and assessment of the student’s progress toward instructional objectives and coordination of the delivery of special education services as per the IEP.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops daily lesson plans in an approved format as required by the Principal.
  • Reviews each student’s IEP prior to the first day of school and periodically to make sure that it is implemented correctly.   
  • Provides research-based instruction to address the instructional goals and objectives contained within each student’s IEP.
  • Provides a multi-tier system of supports for positive behavior such as the Pyramid Model to structure the classroom environment and use tools and strategies that support the social emotional development of young children and address challenging behaviors.
  • Develops and implements classroom wide management strategies and systems as well as individual behavior strategies as needed.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the CPSE and CSE systems to help students and families adjust to the educational expectations as students transition from one system to the next.

  • Excellent Critical Evaluation, Judgement / Sensitivity to Confidential Information
  • Master’s Degree
  • NYS Students with Disabilities (Birth -Grade 2) Initial or Permanent Professional Certification, or a NYS Special Education Permanent Certification
  • ABA experience preferred but will train
  • Bilingual (Spanish) extension a plus
  • Must obtain and maintain all mandated security clearances

Work Environment: This job operates in a school environment. Activities usually take place in the classroom, in the gym, outside on the playground or in special activity rooms.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, I-pads, and smartboards.

Physical Demands:  This role may be physically demanding. The employee is required to be non-sedentary. Must be able to stand; run, walk; sit; bend, climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch; The employee must be able to lift an average pre-school age child (35 pounds) and school age child (50 pounds).

Hours:  This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, typically, 35 hours per week.  Work Schedules are either 7:30am-3:00pm or 8:00am-3:30pm with ½ hour provided for lunch (unpaid time). The school operates 12 months out of the year.

Salary: $55,000+/annually
