Variety Child Learning Center (VCLC) is a 4410 not-for-profit agency providing quality educational and therapeutic services to young children with disabilities. Our facilities are located in Syosset, Levittown, and East Northport, NY. Our schools operate 12 months/year following a school-based calendar. Hours are typically 8:00am-3:30pm Monday-Friday.

We are currently accepting applications for Social Workers with immediate, July, and September start dates. Recent graduates welcome! Applications are reviewed as they are received.

Essential Functions

  • Provide individual, family, and group counseling services to support students’ social, emotional, and behavioral development.
  • Partner with families to help them understand their child’s disability and its impact on the family system; provide guidance, resources, and ongoing support.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to support student participation and overall educational progress.
  • Develop and implement social-emotional goals in accordance with each student’s IEP; monitor progress and maintain timely documentation, including session notes and required reports.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to comprehensive, student-centered educational planning.
  • Assist families in accessing community resources and external supports when appropriate.
  • Maintain professional standards, ethical practice, and compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Bilingual social worker will act as a liaison between the families and the school team

Required Education & Credentials

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program
  • Current New York State licensure/registration as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)

Additional Qualifications

  • Experience working with young children (ages 3–5) with complex physical and communication needs preferred
  • Reliable, compassionate professional committed to working in a collaborative classroom environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with young children with disabilities and their families

Starting salary, a minimum of $52,500.00. Additional compensation based on relevant experience.

Work Environment:
This job operates in a school environment. Activities usually take place in the classroom, in the gym, outside on the playground, or in special activity rooms. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, I-pads. printers/fax/scanner, telephone, and shredder.

Physical Demands: This role may be physically demanding. The employee is required to be non-sedentary. Must be able to stand; run, walk; sit; bend, climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch; The employee must be able to lift an average pre-school age child (35 pounds) and school age child (50 pounds).
